Reflexology involves pressure and massage of the reflex points on our feet and/or hands. Reflexologists believe different areas on the feet or hands represent, and are connected to, different parts of the body. Applying gentle pressure to these specific reflex points is thought to start the healing process by stimulating or restoring the flow of energy in the body.
How can reflexology help?
Reflexology is very popular amongst people affected by cancer. Initial findings from some studies have suggested that people affected by cancer found improvements in a number of symptoms including anxiety, depression, fatigue, pain and quality of life. Some therapists have also found it helps with reducing stress, hot flushes, nausea and fatigue, as well as helping tissue healing. Most importantly, it is approximately 40 minutes of pure relaxation with one of our trained therapists.
What our young people say
“Reflexology made me feel better and more relaxed during treatment. It’s a very chilled out hour where you can just forget the outside world.”
“I found reflexology really relaxing, especially after treatment when everything hits you.”
“The reflexology was really relaxing and I believe helps stimulate your mind and other areas of your body positively. It was something to look forward to and break up the time between treatments.”
“The reflexology has been amazing as my feet, particularly my toes, have been numb since chemo. Since having reflexology my feet feel so much better. Before reflexology my toes were white but having the treatment has helped increase the blood flow again and they are lovely and pink again.”
